Never Enough Time

Have you ever told yourself you didn’t have time to pray, or go to church or read your bible? All the tasks of your daily life are overlapping, giving you zero time to devote to God, at least not the quality time you think He deserves. We collapse into bed at the end of the night and we hear the sinister whisper, “God must be so disappointed in you.” Before long, we just give up trying because what’s the point.

At the end of the book of Mark 12, we can read about Jesus overlooking an offering being collected in the temple. He notices many wealthy people put in a large amount, while one woman put in two small coins, probably equivalent to our pennies. Jesus told His disciples in verses 43-44, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”

God is not moved by wealth, He’s moved by warmth. He’s more interested in your heart than your hand. The woman Jesus points out gave with whole-hearted devotion, while the rich casually and ritually threw in their pocket change. Just because you don’t have hours to devote to God, don’t think that the few minutes you do have aren’t just what He’s after from you. He knows your life and your situations…He created you and aligned your steps. He doesn’t necessarily require the same from me as he does you. Give him two minutes of your devoted time, whether in prayer or praise, and see if He doesn’t multiply your time, so that in the future, you can manage your time and devote more to Him.
